Scarf/Krama (2016)

The work Scarf/Krama (2016) explores the issue of identity, particularly that of Linda's family’s Cambodian heritage and that of her own. This work looks at the fading of traditions within her family home, and is an attempt to reconcile the disappearing past and recognise the pain and trauma that her parents endured during the Pol Pot regime. The work uses the everyday object, a Cambodian scarf called a Krama, and investigates these stories that were difficult to translate and speak about. Through the use of Khmer text, these difficult stories are privately revealed.
